According to Xinhua news agency, Dushanbe, September 16 - on September 16 local time, State Councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi held an informal meeting of foreign ministers of four countries on Afghanistan with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi and Iranian assistant foreign minister Mousavi in Dushanbe.
Wang Yi pointed out that the current situation in Afghanistan is at a critical stage from chaos to governance. Although the war in Afghanistan has ended, the Afghan problem remains unresolved. Wang Yi put forward five suggestions on the four countries' coordination and cooperation related to Afghanistan in the next stage: first, urge the United States to earnestly fulfill its obligations and take responsibility. Second, contact and guide Afghanistan. Third, prevent security risk spillover. Fourth, promote all parties to form a joint force to assist Afghanistan. Fifth, help Afghanistan integrate into the tide of regional cooperation.
Wang Yi expressed that the expectations of countries in the region for the new regime in Afghanistan can be summarized into three points: inclusiveness, counter-terrorism and good neighbourliness. Only with these three characteristics can Afghanistan build a political foundation for long-term stability and regional countries, especially Afghanistan's neighbors, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. China is willing to strengthen coordination with Russia, Pakistan, Iran and other countries in the region to play a constructive role in preventing chaos and maintaining stability, curbing terrorism, stopping violence and peaceful reconstruction in Afghanistan, and promoting the ultimate realization of lasting peace in the region.
Other participants said that it is very useful for China, Russia and Pakistan to fully communicate on the Afghan issue. The four countries should make a joint voice to help Afghanistan build an inclusive government of different nationalities and religions, hope that the Taliban will be completely cut off from all forms of terrorist organizations, and require the international community, especially the United States and its allies, to bear their due responsibilities for solving the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
